2011 Consignment Sales: It's time for the Fall Shows!

Monday, June 20, 2011

by Kristen Bagwell

If you've been reading Triangle MOM for a while, you know I love a good sale. However, if you aren't so sure about the benefits of children's consignment sales (or if you aren't so sure what it even means), check out our previous post from Chrissy Freeman, the genius behind www.ConsignmentMommies.com. For those of us that love a bargain, kids' consignment sales are often the way to go, and many of the items are new with tags still on them!

When your kids are tiny, you can often purchase an entire seasonal wardrobe for $1-2 each piece. (Trust me on this one - my friend Kimberly does it twice each year.) As they age, you can still find some steals and deals on clothing, books, games, gear, and more. Below is an overview of the upcoming children's consignment sales in our area, listed in order by date. For a full listing in any area nationally, be sure check out Chrissy's website. You may never pay full price for kid stuff again!

I've been to the Kids Exchange and Upscale Resale and love them both! I'd say Kids Exchange is more of a half-day/full-day committment bc it takes time, energy, and dedication to sort through the inventory for the truly special pieces. And there definately
are some... you just have to hunt for them. Upscale Resale was easy! I was in and out in about twenty minutes with probably twenty adorable outfits for my toddler son, as well as several really nice pairs of shoes. He always gets complimented on these outfits!
Can't wait to check out more of these in the fall!

I am debating starting a business that helps people clean out their childrens (or their own) closets, preps and tags clothing, and takes the goods to consignment. Wonder if anyone would be interested in this service?

What a great resource! I would like to add my sale to the list....Lullabies to Mud Pies Kids Consignment Sale will be held Sept. 14th - 18th at the Heritage View Clubhouse, 1037 Marshall Farm Street, Wake Forest, NC. Lullabies to Mud Pies is a little different
than most sales...we are partnering with The Buddy Run to raise money for Backpack Buddies, a local charity that gives food-filled backpacks to elementary school children who come from disadvantaged families. Oftentimes, these young children only get to eat
at school, so the food provided by Backpack Buddies helps sustain them over weekends and longer breaks when school meals aren't available to them. It's super simple to consign with us. Registration is open to the first 150 consignors. Visit http://www.lullabiestomudpies.com/contact
to reserve your consignor spot. If you can't consign, please consider attending our event and spreading the word any way you can for this good cause. We will have a 25% off sale on Saturday evening 6-9 p.m. and a 50% off sale on Sunday 11-3. Our full sale
schedule: http://www.lullabiestomudpies.com/sale-schedule
